Celebrity DJ Bo Jaxon from B95.1 to Emcee “Battle of the Badges” 1st Annual Charity Boxing Challenge to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oxnard and Port Hueneme hosted by Oceanview Pavilion

On Saturday, December 5th, Oceanview Pavilion, official sponsor, will host the 1st Annual “Battle of the Badges” Guns Vs Hoses Amateur Boxing event benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme.  The charity boxing event will feature deputy sheriffs and police officers versus firefighters from Ventura County. Proceeds will support the 18 Boys & Girls Club sites within Oxnard and Port Hueneme and more than 7,200 youth that they serve annually.

Bo Jaxon is generously donating his time and talent for the evening’s fun. “I’m thrilled. This is a going to be an amazing event. And I’m very happy to support the Boys & Girls Club—a cause that’s close to my heart.” Also joining Bo is Coastal Events, a sponsor, providing music throughout the event.

This is a boxing match that puts members of the Ventura County Deputy Sheriff’s Association and other law enforcement officers up against the Ventura County Professional Firefighters Association and other firefighters for a good cause.
The Ventura County Deputy Sheriff’s Association, the Ventura County Professional Firefighter’s Association and Oceanview Pavilion have come together to unite in the spirit of giving from the heart to benefit our communities.
Money raised will go to support over 7,200 youth at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oxnard and Port Hueneme. “We are eager to help the kids served by the Boys & Girls Clubs by showcasing the good-natured rivalry between deputies and firefighters,” said Sergeant Matt Findlay, VCDSA President.   “Oceanview Pavilion’s Performing Arts Theatre by the beach is honored to join hands with the Ventura County Firefighters Association, Ventura County Deputy Sheriff’s Association and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oxnard and Port Hueneme,” said Sharon Kloeris, Executive Vice President of Marketing.

The doors open at 5 p.m. with the first bout starting at 6 p.m. There will be ten matches, each are three, one-minute rounds.
Tickets are available for $20 – general admission, $50 – reserved and $100 –VIP.

THE AIR NATIONAL GUARD BAND OF THE SOUTHWEST 2009 WINTER CONCERT JAZZ TOUR ~

The Air National Guard Band of the Southwest’s ‘Patriots in Blue’ 2009 Southern California Winter Concert tour will present a free concert in Oceanview Pavilion’s Performing Arts Theatre by the Beach located at 575 E. Surfside Drive Port Hueneme. The concert will be 3:00 pm Sunday December 6. It is sponsored by the Oceanview Pavilion’s Performing Arts Theatre by the Beach.

This years Southern California Winter tour will feature the acclaimed world-renowned Jazz Trombonist Bill Watrous one of the finest bop-oriented trombonists of the past 30 years. Watrous made his debut with Billy Butterfield, and was one of the trombonists working and recording with Quincy Jones, Maynard Ferguson, Johnny Richards and Woody Herman. Watrous led his own big band ‘The Manhattan Wildlife Refuge’ during 1973-1977, recording two superb albums for Columbia.

The twenty-piece member Air National Guard Jazz band is a celebration of Big Band Swing! The exciting rhythms and energy of jazz in all its forms are the repertoire of this group. Each member brings unique talent that excites all audiences, civilian and military. Under the direction of Technical Sergeant Toby Smith, the Jazz ensemble will perform music by Tom Kubis and Gordon Goodwin with a special performance of “It’ll Count if it Goes” off the Space Available album of Bill Watrous.
